Nanostructures for Environmentally Friendly Supercapacitors
Speaker: Dr Karina Cuentas Gallegos
Dr Karina Cuentas Gallegos is a distinguished researcher in the field of hybrid nanostructured materials for energy storage devices, with a particular focus on electrochemical supercapacitors.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Sciences from the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey (ITESM) and obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her academic trajectory has been recognised with the IIM-UNAM Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in Science and Materials Engineering, as well as the “Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz” distinction for outstanding academic achievement.
Dr Cuentas currently serves as a Senior Researcher (Titular B) at the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CNyN-UNAM) and is a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (Level II).
Her work has been published in over 50 scientific papers and has made significant contributions to the development of technologies for sustainable energy storage.
