The Centre for Mexican Studies in the United Kingdom is an overseas branch of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), located at King’s College London.
It forms part of UNAM’s Coordination of International Affairs and Relations and was established in March 2015, during the Dual Year Mexico–United Kingdom, with the aim of strengthening academic and cultural exchange between UNAM and British higher education institutions.
Mission
To promote mobility, networking, and cooperation both within and between institutions; to foster the teaching and certification of the Spanish language; to disseminate Mexican and local cultures for the benefit of both the university community and the Mexican diaspora abroad; and to enhance UNAM’s presence overseas.
Vision
To serve as UNAM’s centre of excellence abroad, contributing to its international standing within its geographical area of influence by promoting academic, scientific, and cultural engagement.
Strategic Partnerships
The Centre for Mexican Studies UNAM–United Kingdom (CEM–UK) is based at King’s College London (Waterloo campus), through an institutional agreement that provides facilities and fosters collaboration between both universities.
From this strategic location, UNAM UK promotes academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between Mexico and the United Kingdom, and remains open to developing new partnerships and collaboration agreements with British higher education institutions.
